Hunterdon First is part of a nationwide movement of independent communities that seek to prove that locally owned independent businesses can go beyond the traditional measures of success by helping these businesses flourish in their local economies.
By engaging the entire community, we have created a movement that is dedicated to preserving and promoting the dignity of this beautiful place that we call home.
What We Do
Education
Hunterdon First is committed to providing education to our members and the community at large. By conducting town-meetings, providing printed material that offers specific information related to the benefits of supporting independent merchants, providing web based information, and keeping the media informed, Hunterdon First will promote our mission throughout the County. Education through advocacy is a strong element of building a strong sustainable business alliance.
Outreach
By seeking to engage independent businesses, farming communities, residents and those who share a love for Hunterdon County, Hunterdon First will build a stronger and more sustainable region. We take our mission to the public and will not wait to be approached. We are active in local politics and advocate for the rights of locally owned independent merchants. Part of our outreach is to provide support to independent merchants in need of guidance. Our Board of Directors will listen and respond to the needs of our members by helping them promote and market their unique offering of products or services. Resident members will be well informed of what is happening and be invited to engage in their community.
Marketing
Hunterdon First builds unique marketing and promotion campaigns based upon the dynamics of the community. A unified and interactive web site will be aggressively promoted throughout the region and beyond. This web site will provide information on each member with links to their web sites. Twice monthly newsletters will be distributed that offer members even greater exposure. Additionally, members will be provided material that they will have the option of personalizing, identifying them as part of Hunterdon First. Our goal is to become the most identifiable unified coalition of merchants in Hunterdon County. Hunterdon First marketing strategies will evolve as membership grows and the dynamics of the organization changes.
